In an official intimation, joint registrar (services) of the high court, Dinesh Kumar Singh on March 1, 2010 wrote to the principal secretary, judicial and legal remembrance (LR) of the state, KK Sharma about appointment of judges in the newly created special courts. The courts will resume judicial work on the date the presiding officer takes over the charge as special judge.
Out of the six courts, four will function at Lucknow, whereas the remaining two are created in Ghaziabad. As of now, there are two anti corruption-CBI courts. One in Lucknow and another one at Ghaziabad.
The governor has appointed the judges recommended by the high court. These courts will try cases probed and chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Area of jurisdiction of special court has also been defined in the notification issued by UP Shashan Grih (police)section 9.
The newly appointed special judges at Lucknow are Rekha Dixit, Jai Prakash Singh I, Surendra Singh, Brijesh Kumar Mishra, RBS Gautam and Ram Babu Sharma, who are presently posted in Lucknow judgeship.
Shyam Lal II, Dr Ashok Kumar Singh IV, and MS Wadhwa are new judges at Ghaziabad. Special judge Rekha Dixit holding special court anti-corruption CBI (West) will try the cases related to Lucknow, Shravasti, Pilibhit, Maharajganj, Auraiya, Ambedkar Nagar and Chandauli. Similarly, the other judges also have been allocated different districts.
The special court shall try the offences specified in sub section (1) of section (3) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 in which chargesheets are filed in the court by special police establishment of the government of India and the cases arising within the prescribed area, chargesheets already filed before any other special judge and also such other cases arising within the said area relating to said special police establishment, which are pending before such special judge, stated the government notification creating the special courts of CBI.
